Tessa Thompson

The actress Tessa Lynn Thompson was born on October 3, 1983, in Los Angeles, California. Thompson is the daughter of the singer and songwriter Marc Anthony Thompson and the grandchild of musician-actor Bobby Ramos. She was born in Los Angeles and raised there until moving to Brooklyn. Her father is of African-Panamanian origin, and her mother of Mexican and British Isles ancestry. Thompson attended Santa Monica High School, which was where she performed in several theatre productions. In the years following her graduation, she attended Santa Monica College where she received a degree in cultural anthropology. For her role as Juliet, she portrayed William Shakespeare's play "Romeo as well as Juliet" as part of an Pasadena California production at The Boston Court Theatre.
